About
The people behind the pages.

Jaryah Books was founded by Afreen Fazil and Yiasir Ahmed, and works between the UK and the UAE. We design for publishers like Kube Publishing, and for authors publishing their first book.
We work on books in English and Arabic, and on bilingual books, and we give every one the care we would want for our own.

The name
Our name comes from sadaqah jāriyah, the charity that keeps flowing after we are gone. A good book does the same: knowledge that keeps giving.
«إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عنه عمله إلا من ثلاثة: إلا من صدقة جارية، أو علم يُنتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له»
“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge that benefits others, or a righteous child who prays for them.”
Sahih Muslim 1631
- ماءWater
- لبنMilk
- خمرWine
- عسلHoney
Our four colours are the rivers of Jannah in Surah Muhammad (47:15): water, milk, wine and honey. Jāriyah shares its root with tajrī, the word for how those rivers flow.
